Looking for musicians in Berlin

(violin, double bass or electric bass guitar, piano/keyboard, synth, percussion - AND any other musician and creative mind who's up for a different, original band.)

Style references are Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Leonard Cohen, Einstürzende Neubauten, Tom Waits, Teho Teardo & Blixa Bargeld – but of course, the goal is always to create something new and original.

Particularly for the release of my upcoming album “Axolotl” under my music project “Blake Day” towards the end of this year, I’m looking for additional musicians for the record release gig in Berlin, potentially followed by more gigs. In general, I would prefer to have a band set up so it would be great if you are also interested in forming a band. The album has been fully produced, mixed and mastered, and I can send you it, of course. A first video single has just been published and can be found here:

The album was recorded with grand piano, cello, violin, double bass, and some additional electronic elements were added in the production process. The other album songs are similar to the single, but some are a bit wilder. The album also features some soundscape-based songs (using loops of unconventional sound objects) with spoken poetry.

A cello player is already on board. So I’m still looking for violin, double bass or electric bass guitar, piano/keyboard, synth (as some sounds will have to be sampled), and percussion AND any other musician and creative mind who's up for a band.

Sheet music for cello, violin and double bass is available. A rehearsal space in Berlin-Friedrichshain (near Boxhagener Platz) is ready to be used at least once a week. Instruments available (that I also play myself) are a piano, a microKORG XL+ synthesizer, a 4-string bass guitar, an electric baritone guitar, a 4-string Warren Ellis electric tenor guitar, an accordion, percussion and sound objects, some amps and PA and equipment.

In addition to the album, there are many other song drafts, where everybody is welcome to contribute with their own ideas. Otherwise, I have specific ideas for most of them. There are also great promotion ideas as well as plans for the future. But first, there needs to be a band/live set-up to get the ball rolling.

For the record release gig, (almost) any musician is fine. For the band, it is more important to be on the same page about a few things, particularly regarding the artistic nature of songs (the above-mentioned style references are a good indicator here). So with a view to forming a band, I’m looking forward to meeting like-minded musicians, in particular.
